The second match of the doubleheader Sunday will be played between Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Capitals. The match will be held at DY Patil Stadium, Mumbai from 7:30 pm. Delhi is fifth in the points table with 5 wins in 10 matches, while Chennai is out of the tournament with only 3 wins in 10 matches.
In such a situation, Chennai can beat Delhi and reduce its chances of reaching the playoffs. Both teams have an army of excellent players. If Delhi has to travel to the playoffs, then Rishabh will be expected to make sensible innings.
Delhi is making performance the basis of selection
Delhi Capitals have finally changed the team and started giving importance to performance rather than name. Prithvi Shaw was unable to convert a good start into a big score. So he was not given an opportunity in the last match. David Warner’s form is a big plus point for Delhi. Pant is seen in a very aggressive style.
However, trying to target a bowler, he got out on the fifth ball of the over. Pant can change his gear at any time in the innings and playing till the end guarantees Delhi a big score.
Chennai lacks express speed bowlers
This entire season has been like a nightmare for Chennai Super Kings. Dhoni handing over the captaincy to Jadeja just before the start of the season went against the team. There was confusion among the players and its effect was clearly visible in the performance. Deepak Chahar’s injury was also the main reason for Chennai’s poor performance.
Not giving Dwayne Bravo a chance in the last two matches was a big strategic mistake of CSK. Now that the team is out of the tournament, bench strength can be tested to decide the playing XI for next year.
