Chua makes history with the Seychelles
Chua makes history with the Seychelles. In an article coming out of The Seychelles, a country in Africa, you’ll find out how their national team coach Angeline Chua made history for the team. Angeline explains how she has been working to raise the team’s ranking on FIFA/Coca-Cola Women’s World Ranking.
Three new teams enter the list of 181 nations in this week’s FIFA/Coca-Cola ranking. One of these is Seychelles, who enter at 160th place.
Women’s soccer is getting better. In a FIFA interview, Chua said that it has become a really positive thing for the women to step into the football federation. Women and younger generations are seeing success in this sport as, “It’s a special moment for the players, especially for the older generation.
Chua, who represented Singapore women’s national team at a tournament in 2019, went on to coach Singapore’s U-14 and U-15 teams the following year.
Singapore had been ranked for over a decade, so it has not been difficult for Chua to transition into her role as coach in Seychelles. However, how did they get this ranking to the first place? They mentioned the required category to come first in ranking. They received funding so they were able to schedule friendlies against teams that were closer in skill.
The Women’s Ranking has been crucial for the Seychelles because it helps them to stand out. The ranking gives them a chance to become more visible, which means that they get more attention. It allows players to test themselves against the world’s best and also makes them appreciate their own talent.
It doesn’t matter the size of a country, because football is for everyone and gives everyone the chance to showcase their talent.
After her training on the pitch and implementing a long-term strategy for women’s football, she’s currently working on developing strategies and operations to optimize their performance. She is taking a holistic approach to do so in order not to just focus on their game play.
Chua said it’s vital to be consistent. She wants a successful national team, and wants people to think better of women who play football.
Chua has the experience to implement this strategy as she was a player and coach for the Women’s Assistance Programme.
Female coaches in Singapore study the game and grow their expertise. After being introduced to new concepts in 2016, one coach revealed she never stopped studying. Women coaches in Seychelles can use this same knowledge to develop the game by giving women more opportunities to play.
It’s amazing what a little dedication and perseverance can achieve. The Seychelles women’s national team worked hard to enter the FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking for the first time, and their coach Angeline Chua is understandably proud of them. This is a great achievement for the team, and one that will no doubt motivate them to keep working hard in order to maintain their place in the ranking.
