Chelsea news: Wilfried Zaha transfer is being considered with £40m flop set for exit
Chelsea news: Wilfried Zaha transfer is being considered with £40m flop set for exit: Chelsea manager, Thomas Tuchel, has been facing a hectic summer. Several players are leaving and arriving at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues have acquired first-team stars Kalidou Koulibaly, Gabriel Slonina, Carney Chukwuemeka, Raheem Sterling, Marc Cucurella, and Cesare Casadei.
On the other hand, personalities like Andreas Christensen, Timo Werner, Antonio Rudiger, and Emerson have left the Premier League club.
Tuchel’s new squad seems to be starting to gel. Chelsea defeated Leicester 2-1 at home on the afternoon of the 27th of August 2022. They won this despite being reduced to 10 men. Conor Gallagher was given a second yellow card in the 28th minute. There is still a chance that they are not finished in the transfer market.
Zaha on radar
Chelsea has shown interest in signing Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha. Zaha has also been a target for Arsenal. The Ivory Coast international, at the age of 29, has scored three goals in the Premier League games this season. Zaha scored 14 goals in the competition last term.
Zaha has one year left on his existing deal. It is rumored that Chelsea’s primary targets are Everton winger Antony Gordon and Barcelona striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. They are expected to swoop for Zaha if they are not able to bring in those two players.
Zaha has no interest in playing in the Champions League, according to Roy Hodgson. The former England manager revealed the intentions of the player and his ambitions when he was in charge of Palace.
“Wilf Zaha will again be a name on many managers and sporting directors’ lips and Wilf will retain his ambition of playing Champions League football and doing things we have not been able to give him while he has been playing here,” said Hodgson in February 2021. He was asked if Zaha will be seeking a transfer away from Selhurst Park that summer.
Hodgson said: “He is good enough to play at other clubs, but also he is a player we would really like to keep here because he has been so important for us and he is very important to all the fans and everyone around the club.”
