Chelsea are allegedly prepared to invest €60 million in the current January transfer window to get Inter Milan center-back Alessandro Bastoni.
According to TV Play, the Blues are looking for a long-term successor for Thiago Silva, who is nearing the end of his contract.
Mauricio Pochettino’s backline relies heavily on the 39-year-old, who has started 18 Premier League games this season.
Bastoni joined Inter Milan from Atalanta for a reported €31.1 million in 2017.
Although it took him some time to establish himself as a starter, the 24-year-old is now one of the most reliable players.
Bastoni has started 13 Serie A games this season despite missing a couple due to a calf injury.
The center-half has made 183 appearances for his current club, scoring three goals and providing 14 assists.
According to the aforementioned source, Chelsea will face competition from Real Madrid to sign the youngster.
Carlo Ancelotti, the manager of Real Madrid, is reported to be a fan of the Italy international.
Given Inter’s financial troubles, the Serie A giants might trade Bastoni for roughly €60 million.
However, with Chelsea being out of Europe and in tenth position in the Premier League, a transfer to Stamford Bridge may not appear to be financially rewarding.
Conor Gallagher will push for a starting spot at Chelsea despite transfer speculations
Conor Gallagher, a Chelsea midfielder, is allegedly on the verge of leaving the club this summer.
Tottenham Hotspur and other European clubs, notably Bayern Munich and Newcastle United, are reportedly interested.
However, the Blues academy product is said to be eager to battle for his spot in west London.
He has made 19 Premier League appearances this season and has four assists. In the absence of the injured Reece James, Gallagher also donned the captain’s armband.
The 23-year-old midfielder has appeared in 68 games for Chelsea, scoring three goals and providing five assists.
The Blues have a deal with the England international until the summer of 2025.
A transfer elsewhere may suit Gallagher, who will compete for a midfield spot with Enzo Fernandez, Moises Caicedo, and Romeo Lavia.
