Sachin Tendulkar – Sourav Ganguly (India): 21
Tendulkar and Ganguly formed the first and most successful partnership in ODI’s history between 1996 and 2007. The duo met 176 times in wicket and achieved a total of 8,227 runs in 26 stands of 100 runs. Of these, 136 innings were the opening stands and the pair was 6,609 runs, including 21st-century partnerships and the best 258. The stand took place in October 2001 at the Standard Bank Triangular Tournament against Kenya in Paarl. First, India scored 35 1/3, with Ganguly (111) and Tendulkar (146) scoring the highest. Accordingly, Kenya was limited to 165/5 with over 50.
Shikhar Dhawan – Rohit Sharma (India): 17
Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma are arguably the most successful opener pairs currently active in ODI. Overall, we have gathered in 112 innings since 2010 to build a partnership equivalent to 5023 runs. With 110 opening stands, the duo has a run of 4978 at 45.66, including 17th-century partnerships and 210’s best opening tally. The partnership took place in September 2018 in the Asian Cup match against Pakistan in Dubai. First Pakistan defeated 237/7. In response, India scored 238/1, Sharma scored an undefeated 111 and Dawhan scored 114.
Adam Gilchrist – Matthew Hayden (Australia): 16
Between 2000 and 2008, Australians Adam Gilchrist and Matthew Hayden formed a feared pair, forming 117 partnerships with a total of 5409 runs. Of these, 114 scored an average of 48.39 at 5372 in the opening score, with 16th-century scores including the highest score of 172. This partnership came to fruition in the final of the 2007 World Cup against Sri Lanka in Bridgetown. The first batter, Australia, won 28 1/4, mainly thanks to Gilchrist (149) and Hayden (38). In reply, Sri Lanka managed only 215/8 with 36 overs in a rain-restricted game, giving Australia a winner with 53 runs (D / L method).
Gordon Greenidge – Desmond Haynes (West Indies): 15
Gordon Greenidge and Desmond Haynes were the first partners of the West Indies from 1979 to 1991. Overall, they enjoyed 113 grandstands with 5206 runs, 112 of which recorded 5150 runs with an average of 52.55 as openers. Of these, 15 are century partnerships, including 192 best (undefeated) stands. This partnership took place at the 4th ODI in a series of New Zealand West Indies tours in March 1987. New Zealand was the first to bat and scored 191/9 with over 50. Greenidge (133 out of 140 balls) and Haynes (53 out of 100 balls) helped to secure a win for 10 wickets.
Jonny Bairstow – Jason Roy (England): 13
Jonny Bairstow and Jason Roy have been partners in England since 2017. In total, they met at Knick 48 times and set up a stand equivalent to 2750 runs. Of these, 44 have launched a partnership that gives 2663 runs at 60.52 in a 13th-century partnership that includes up to 174. This position was the fourth game in the series with Australia on Chestal Street in June 2018. Australia was the first to hit, 8 to 310. England chased them with 6 wickets, mainly thanks to Roy (101) and Bairstow(79).
Aaron Finch – David Warner (Australia): 12
Between 2014 and 2020, Aaron Finch and David Warner all participated in 70 partnerships in ODI Games as openers. The 3638 partner pair runs at 52.72 and the 12th-century stand includes 258 best (undefeated) partnerships. The stand played against India in Mumbai 2020. India was the first to bat and bowl at 255. Thanks to Finch (114 to 110 balls) and Warner (112 to 128 balls), Australia chased the goal without losing the wicket.
TM Dilshan – Upul Tharanga (Sri Lanka): 9
Dilshan and Talanga formed the first partnership in Sri Lanka between 2009 and 2014. In total, they met 77 times at a stand worth 3367 runs. Of these, 71 open partnerships scored 45.12 with 3159 runs, winning 9th-century scores, including the highest partnership 282. He reached that score in the World Cup match against Zimbabwe in Kandy in March 2011. Thanks to Talanga (133) and Dilshan (144), Sri Lanka’s first hit scored 327/6 before defeating Zimbabwe at 188.
Herschelle Gibbs – Gary Kirsten (South Africa): 9
Gibbs and Kirsten successfully opened South Africa between 1996 and 2003. In total, the pair met 68 times and recorded 2906 runs. Of these, 66 are open stands, 2838 runs at 46.52, and 9th-century stands include the best 235. This position was born when South Africa met India at the first ODI of the series in Kochi in March 2000. First, South Africa’s hits were 301/3, mainly due to Kirsten’s 115 and Gibbs’ 111. In response, India scored 302/7, giving South Africa a one-run victory.
Adam Gilchrist – Mark Waugh (Australia): 8
Adam Gilchrist and Mark Waugh joined Australia’s opening round between 1998 and 2002. In total, they enjoyed 97 partnerships and recorded 3992 runs. Of these, 93 is the opening score, with a 4853 run at 41.43 and an 8th-century score with a high of 206.
