Central Zone will be led by Shivam Mavi in the 2023 Duleep Trophy: The Central Zone team will be led by Uttar Pradesh fast bowler Shivam Mavi in the next Duleep Trophy competition, which will begin on June 28.
For the men’s cricket team of Uttar Pradesh, Mavi has participated in 12 first-class games since 2018. During the 2022–23 Ranji Trophy season, the 24-year-old took 19 victims, with an average loss of 16.78.
Shivam Mavi will be competing in the Duleep Trophy for the first time after the Central Zone did not choose him for the previous season.
Mavi will be joined in the Central Zone side by the young guns from Uttar Pradesh, Rinku Singh and Dhruv Jurel, who impressed with the bat among the younger players in IPL 2023.
In the Duleep Trophy 2023 season, Uttar Pradesh left-arm spinner Saurabh Kumar, who has 248 wickets in 60 FC Matches at an average of 25.22, will be a crucial bowler for Central Zone.
Shivam Mavi (c), Vivek Singh, Himanshu Mantri, Kunal Chandela, Shubham Sharma, Amandeep Khare, Rinku Singh, Akshay Wadkar, Upendra Yadav (vc), Dhruv Jurel, Saurabh Kumar, Manav Sathar, Saransh Jain, Avesh Khan, and Yash Thakur are the Central Zone players for the Duleep Trophy in 2023.
Rongsen Jonathan, a batting all-rounder representing Nagaland, has been selected as the Northeast Zone team’s captain for the red-ball competition. In 58 FC innings, Jonathan has scored 1906 runs at an average of 34.03 and taken 38 wickets, with his best stat line being 5/52.
Sonam Palden Bhutia of Sikkim will serve as the Northeast Zone’s coach, with Th. Kamlesh of Manipur and Vikash S. Chauhan of Meghalaya serve as the team’s physio and trainer, respectively.
The domestic BCCI season will begin with the Duleep Trophy in 2023–24
For Indian cricket, the domestic season will begin with the 2023 Duleep Trophy. Six zones are involved in the tournament, which has a knockout structure.
The Duleep Trophy season will take place from June 28 until July 16. The schedule and locations for the matches have not yet been released by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
West Zone is the defending champion after defeating South Zone by 294 runs in the Coimbatore final of the previous season. Ajinkya Rahane, a seasoned Indian batter, led the West Zone in the 2022 Duleep Trophy.
