Carlos Sainz Jr.- Winner of British Grand Prix F1 Race. Carlos Sainz Jr. bagged his first career win in Formula One race, on Sunday, and he marked his victory at the British Grand Prix. It was one of the most dramatic races to witness this season. It started by giving a terrific first-lap crash that ended with a critical wheel-to-wheel fight to ensure the podium positions.
Sainz was initially leading with Charles Leclerc and was close behind. Ferrari first said they were “free to fight,” after this, the team from Italy asked Sainz to allow Leclerc to pass to avoid losing any time to Lewis Hamilton.
But then the safety car moved out, and Ferrari then brought Sainz right into the pits for having fresher, and gripping tires. Leclerc needs to continue with older and hard tires. Sainz took the lead soon and crossed his teammate to take the lead and enroll his first-ever victory in the 150th F1 start.
“We did it. Yes! We did it! Yes! Vamos!” Sainz said to Ferrari.
Sergio Pérez took over Hamilton and Leclerc after making a restart and, end up second, although faced some inquiry due to cutting of a chicane. Hamilton for a short time, was second, crossing Pérez and Leclerc but, in the end, failed to hold position and ended up fourth.
The race halted during the opening lap and that was for the terrific multi-car crash which put car of Guanyu Zhou upside-down on a fence. He got treatment at the medical center, and Alexander Albon, the Williams driver was taken to a hospital for evaluation after it hit a wall during the above incident.
Max Verstappen, who was the defending F1 champion as well as current standings leader, slipped from the lead with his Red Bull damage as it ran over debris. He struggled to control his grip and ended up seventh.
