On March 5, in an exhibition match in Las Vegas, Rafael Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz will pick up where they left off in their legendary rivalry.

The 36-year-old Nadal has won a men’s-record 22 Grand Slam tournaments, including two in 2022 at the Australian Open and the French Open. Meanwhile, the 19-year-old Alcaraz won his first major championship at the U.S. Open in September.
In this year’s ATP rankings, the two Spaniards placed first and second, with Alcaraz being the youngest man to do so and Nadal being the oldest. Since Americans Pete Sampras and Michael Chang in 1996, they are the first pair of nationals to hold the top two spots in the men’s rankings.
The fight, dubbed “The Slam: Nadal vs. Alcaraz” in boxing-style promotion, will take place in the MGM Grand Garden Arena.

In three official contests, all Masters 1000 competitions, Nadal and Alcaraz have faced off against one another. In their most recent meeting, which took place in May on red clay in Madrid, Alcaraz prevailed, giving Nadal a 2-1 advantage.
