Buccaneers make roster moves to get down to 80 active players: The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are colloquially known as the Bucs. The Buccaneers are a professional American football team located in Tampa, Florida. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers compete in the National Football League (NFL). They are a member club of the league’s National Football Conference (NFC) South division. The club joined the NFL in the year 1976 as an expansion team. They joined along with the Seattle Seahawks. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers played its first season in the American Football Conference (AFC) West division.
Prior to the 1977 season, Tampa Bay switched conferences and divisions with Seattle and became a member of the NFC Central division. As a result of the league’s realignment prior to the 2002 season, the Buccaneers went on to join the three former NFC West teams to form the NFC South. The Glazer family is the owner of the club. The club plays its home games at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa.
The Buccaneers have to name two Super Bowl championships. The Baltimore Ravens and the Buccaneers are the only two NFL franchises who are undefeated in multiple Super Bowl appearances. They were a perennially losing franchise for most of their first two decades. There was an exception of being 3 playoff appearances during the late 1970s and early 1980s. This was due to suffering 26 consecutive losses in their first two seasons including a winless inaugural season. They had 14 consecutive losing seasons from 1983 to 1996. Despite these early failures, Tampa Bay is the first post-merger expansion team to win a division title, win a playoff game, and host a conference championship. They accomplished all this by their fourth season in 1979.
By the late 1990s and 2000s, the team improved its fortunes. They enhanced their image due to them making several playoff appearances. The team eventually culminated with their first Super Bowl championship in the year 2002. The Buccaneers defeated the Oakland Raiders 48-21. They failed to win another playoff game from 2003 to 2019 until their second Super Bowl championship season in 2020.

The Buccaneers cut down to the league-mandated 80 active players on the 22nd of August 2022.
The Buccaneers, along with other teams, are making difficult decisions heading into the 2022 NFL regular season. Following the first round of cuts last week, the franchise dropped down to the limit of 80 players by Tuesday afternoon.
Tampa Bay had to make its roster moves to make the mandated cuts to fulfill the NFL regulations.
Towards the end of Monday, the Bucs were required to cut one roster player. This is crucial to abide by the NFL rules for a roster consisting of 80 players. With the injuries sustained by second-string linebacker Cam Gill and the tear injury of guard Stinnie, the Buccaneers needed to shed just three players to achieve that mark.
Eventually, the team decided to remove the safety, Troy Warner, and WR, Vycint Smith. The final player to be removed was a tight end, Bug Howard, out of the University of North Carolina. Bug Howard spent time with the Indianapolis Colts, Denver Broncos, Carolina Panthers, Atlanta Legends (AAF), Cleveland Browns, Jacksonville Jaguars, and the Philadelphia Stars (USFL).
Howard performed strongly during the training camp. He was looking to be a part of the replacement for recently retired Rob Gronkowski. But, with the draft picks of Cade Otton and Ko Kieft it seemed to be a long road ahead for the former undrafted free agent.
The Buccaneers are turning their focus toward their third preseason game. This game will be against the Indianapolis Colts. This game will take place before having to cut their roster from 80 men down to 53. The cut has to be finalized by the 30th of August right before the regular season begins.
