Rains at Silverstone, British Grand Prix is never-ending Lewis Hamilton records his first out of 8 British Grand Prix victories in the rain. During that time, weather conditions were rough during rain but they managed to win. That’s one of the reasons why his first victory was so much celebrated.
He switched to McLaren typers in the middle of the race on tracks that carry pools of water. Later just before crossing the line he again changed tyres with the same compound.
What will happen if it rains?
There are chances organizers can show red flags to race even before any laps. It happened in Monaco Grand Prix 2021 and also last year when SPA was delayed for hours due to heavy rains. Eventually, race directors decided to run a few laps for results and awarded half points to the top 10 drivers. However, in 2022 rules were changed, there will be no result unless two laps are completed in green flag conditions.
