In the opening Test at Windsor Park in Dominica, Bowler Ravichandran Ashwin turned up a dominant bowling effort to help India thrash the West Indies by a huge margin of an innings and 141 runs.
The hosts started their second innings in the second session of Day 3 after blowing a 271-run advantage in the first innings. Unfortunately, the West Indies were skittled out in just 50.3 overs thanks to the superb bowling of the Indian spinners.
The major wrecker of India, Ashwin, needed as many as seven wickets to completely shatter the Windies batting order and end any aspirations of a fightback. Ashwin led India in dismissing the West Indies for 130 runs along with two wickets from Ravindra Jadeja and one from Mohammed Siraj.
The third day’s Dominica surface proved to be too taxing for the home team’s batsmen. With his trademark variations, Ashwin kept it straightforward and let the pitch do its job.
The LBW and close-in fielders came into action as a result of him drawing the Windies hitters forward. The Chennai-born tweaker finished the innings with 7/71 as a consequence. Additionally, Ashwin had a spectacular five-wicket haul in the Test’s opening innings.
