Biography of the Indian Cricketer, Ishan Kishan: Ishan Pranav Kumar Pandey Kishan was born on the 18th of July in the year 1998. He is an Indian international cricket player. He plays for Jharkhand in the category of domestic cricket. Kishan plays for the Mumbai Indians team in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He is a left-handed opening batter and a wicket-keeper. He has been the captain of India’s squad for the 2016 Under-19 Cricket World Cup. Ishan made his international debut for the Indian cricket team in March 2021 playing against England.
Early life
Ishan was born in the city of Patna, Bihar. His father’s name is Pranav Kumar Pandey who is a builder. Ishan’s brother Raj Kishan supported him to pursue cricket. Due to a problem of registration between the Bihar Cricket Association and the BCCI, Ishan tried his luck playing for Jharkhand. As per Ishan’s coach, the former Indian team captain M.S. Dhoni and former Australian wicket-keeper-batsman Adam Gilchrist are his idols.
Ishan imbibes in him a deep connection with Aurangabad (Bihar) district. Ishan’s ancestral home is in Gordiha village under the Daudnagar subdivision of the Aurangabad district. Ishan’s grandmother is Savitri Sinha who was a civil surgeon in Nawada. After retirement, his grandmother built her home in Nawada for herself. Kishan’s parents were involved in the pharmaceutical business. Later the entire family moved to Patna.
Domestic career
On the 6th of November 2016, Ishan managed to score 273 runs against Delhi in the 2016–17 Ranji Trophy. This was the highest score by a cricket player for Jharkhand in the Ranji Trophy. He was the leading run-scorer for Jharkhand in the 2017–18 Ranji Trophy, with a total of 484 runs in six matches.
He was the leading run-scorer for Jharkhand in the 2018–19 Vijay Hazare Trophy, with a score of 405 runs in nine matches. In October 2018, he was included in India C’s squad for the 2018–19 Deodhar Trophy. Ishan Kishan scored a century in the tournament’s final. In February 2019, in the 2018–19 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, Kishan scored an unbeaten century playing against Jammu & Kashmir. In the next match, against Manipur, Kishan scored 113 not out.
In August 2019, he was included in the India Red team’s squad for the 2019–20 Duleep Trophy. In October 2019, he was included in India A’s squad for the 2019–20 Deodhar Trophy.
On 20 February 2021, on the opening day of the 2020–21 Vijay Hazare Trophy, Kishan went on to score 173 runs against Madhya Pradesh. Jharkhand ended on 422/9 recording the highest total in the Vijay Hazare Trophy history.
Indian Premier League
In 2016, Ishan was acquired by Gujarat Lions in the 2016 IPL auction. In 2018, he was acquired by the Mumbai Indians in the 2018 IPL auction. He was the highest run-scorer for the Mumbai Indians in the 2020 Indian Premier League. He scored 516 runs from 14 matches. Kishan won the most sixes award of the season.
For the 2022 Indian Premier League, Ishan was bought by the Mumbai Indians for ₹15.25 crores. This made him the second-most expensive Indian player at the auction, right behind Yuvraj Singh.
International career
In February 2021, Ishan Kishan was included in India’s Twenty20 International (T20I) squad for their series playing against England. It was his maiden international call-up to be included in the Indian cricket team. He made his T20 International debut for India on 14 March 2021. In the match against England, he scored 56 off 32 deliveries. He was got out lbw to Adil Rashid. India won the game by seven wickets with Kishan receiving the title of the man of the match.
In June 2021, he was included in India’s One Day International (ODI) and Twenty20 International (T20I) squads playing against Sri Lanka. He made his ODI debut on the 18th of July 2021. He scored 59 runs off 42 balls playing against Sri Lanka. In September 2021, Kishan was included in India’s squad for the 2021 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
