Best Sporting Achievements Since Independence: India celebrates its 75th Independence Day today. Today marks a significant milestone in the country’s history as it made an official transition from a British colony to an independent state. In this time, sports enthusiasts in India experienced a lot of memorable moments that have really boosted people’s interest towards them. Let’s take a look at these moment.
KD Jadhav: Khashaba Dadasaheb Jadhav won India’s first-ever individual medal at the Olympics. He won the bronze in Finland in the bantamweight category at the 1952 Olympics.
Indian hockey team had success in Olympics before Independence, and they continued to rise through the ranks in post-independent India. India won gold in this sport on four occasions during 1948, 1952, 1956, and 1960. They won silver in 1960, followed by a second gold in 1964, another bronze in 1968, a fourth bronze in 1972, and their fifth gold after 1980.
India’s Hockey World Cup win in 1975 was a historic win, not just because they won their first Men’s Hockey World Cup that year but because they defeated Pakistan in the final.

Indian badminton team created history in 2022 by winning the prestigious Thomas Cup for the first time ever. Indonesia was defeated 3-0 in the final.
Indian athletics is going to be a star again after Neeraj Chopra won a gold medal at the Olympics in Tokyo 2020. This was the first victory for an Indian track and field athlete in 20 years, and he threw 87.58 meters to become the first Indian javelin to win a gold medal.
