Best 10 quarterbacks of NFL for 2022. What is your opinion about the quarterback position? It is one of the toughest position games. A very important role is played by the players in this position. The chance to win or not to win also depends to a great extent on these players. In total there are 32 teams in the NFL. After consulting some execs, coaches, scouts, and players we prepared the top QBs of 2022.

Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay Packers

The playbook remained to the point for Rodgers in the last two seasons: He won an MVP and moved a spot up in the list of top 10. In 2020 Rodgers was 3rd. He was behind Patrick Mahomes and Russell Wilson.  

It was because of back-to-back years of mid-road production. Aaron is 38 years old.

After this, his game experienced a massive change. In one of the most active two-year stretches that the game has witnessed: 

• 8,414 passing yards,
• 85 touchdown passes
• 9 interceptions 
• 69.8% completion rate in the 1,057 attempts.

With four MVPs, he is right behind Peyton Manning. 

Rodgers led the NFL towards Total QBR (69.1) in the second consecutive season in 2021. 72.2 QBR in the pocket was Wilson’s league-best.

His highest ever rank was 1. The lowest ever rank Wilson was 5. Last year he was in rank 2. 

Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City Chiefs

In 2022 it will be a critical challenge for Mahomes. He slipped to second place after being at the top for 2 consecutive years. Now there is a wide voting margin between 1 and 2. 

He is making efforts to get back his No. 1 position. Mahomes needs to make efforts without Tyreek Hill, his best receiver. He got traded to Miami in the offseason. Patrick is aged 26 years.

Mahomes spent four years as a starter with the Chiefs. In his tenure, the team won at least 12 regular-season games each time. He always finished among the top five in QBR at that time. He did that after posting a 62.2 last season.

Mahomes averaged close to 300 passing yards per game starting in 2019. It was good for second overall. He scored 101 passing touchdowns and that time span ranked third.

His highest rank was 1. His lowest rank in the record is 5. Last year he ranked 1.

Josh Allen, Buffalo Bills

Allen little-edged Tampa Bay’s Tom Brady to be in the third spot. Many broke the tie due to this thinking: If the team building and playing in 2022, Allen helps to win in multiple ways than one. He is 25 years old.

Enough effort was made for Allen’s improved accuracy. We can see an improvement in completion percentage. It increased from 52.8% in Year 1 to 69.2% in Year 3. It’s a credit for Allen’s continuous development to become the game’s elite passer.

The actual concern for Allen is the number 422. It is the total of rushing attempts he made since 2018. He entered the league in 2018.

 Among 422, the last season rush is 122. Allen’s 240-pound frame will surely handle the pounding to manage the rushing workload. It’s both a blessing and a curse.

Tom Brady, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Evaluators were in a mood to evict Brady from the league in 2020. It happened when he ranked 7th overall. It signaled the evaluators that the arm strength was all but gone.

 After two years Brady moved for the 2nd consecutive top-3 ranking. It was after another MVP-brilliant performance. He scored the most passing yards (5,316). 

His passing touchdowns were 43 in the NFL the previous season. Brady’s 68.1 QBR remained second to only Rodgers. After taking a short retirement this offseason, he is back for Year 23. He will turn 44 in 2023.

The Bucs trusted Brady’s play. They feel his performance has not dropped even the slightest. 

The intense offseason practice helped him to maintain his arm strength. 

He had maneuverability in his pocket. He is leading all NFL passers. With 75 completions from 20 or more yards last season, he is leading. His highest rank was 1 and the lowest was 8. Last year his rank was 3.

Joe Burrow, Cincinnati Bengals

For the voters, the signature moment for Burrow’s is not a beautiful throw. Neither is a slide out of the pocket. The reason for him to get votes is the continuous pummel by the Titans’ defensive line. He was delivering a playoff win anyway. Burrow is 25 years old.

We need to accept that nice sacks of Tennessee failed to stop Burrow. He completed 28 of 37 passes from 348 yards in Cincinnati. It was a 19-16 divisional-round win towards the Super Bowl.

Overall, he scored the NFL’s highest completion percentage. It was over expectation (6.0%) last season, as per Stats of NFL Next Gen. He also delivered 15 passes adding 40 or more yards. Burrow tied for second in the NFL. He made 8.9 yards per attempt; it was the maximum among all NFL passers.

His highest rank was 2. The lowest rank was below 10. Last year he earned an honorable mention.

Matthew Stafford, Los Angeles Rams

Stafford approved the beliefs of many. The ones who considered the QB should move out of Detroit for maximizing potential. The results remained amazing. Stafford created 6,004 yards, and 50 touchdown passes from 21 games, routing the first Super Bowl title. He is 34 years old. 

His 18th completions are moving towards 40 or more yards. Stafford led the NFL in the regular season. The 0.18 expected points were added against every drop back and ranked second in the league.

One key issue for Stafford is that he banks on his arm too much. It results in careless turnovers. He tied with Trevor Lawrence for the league with 17 interceptions. 2 interceptions of him in the Super Bowl remained sloppy.

His highest rank was 3. He moved out of 10 once, and that was his lowest rank. His last year’s rank was 6. 

Justin Herbert, Los Angeles Chargers

Winning helps in getting votes. It explains Herbert’s standing. The two quarterbacks ahead of him were from the Super Bowl. The Herbert’s Chargers fell short of the playoffs. 

It’s expected that he will not be outside of the top five for long. After considering his 65.6 QBR of last season put him at No. 3 in the NFL. He was just behind only Rodgers and Brady. Justin is aged 24.

Justin entered the league in 2020. On record, he has the second-most completions (839) and attempts (1,267). In addition to that, the third-most passing yards (9350) are also his. 

He ranked fifth in passing touchdowns (69). Justin’s 25 completions gained 40 or more yards trail only Stafford.

His highest rank was 5. When he was out 10 it remained his lowest rank. Last year’s rank was 9.

Russell Wilson, Denver Broncos

Wilson’s status falls among the elite. It is secured for the better part of a decade. But the current year’s QB pantheon is under question. Wilson is 33 years old. 

His 18 months are not that great on the field. The 2020 movement of Let Russ Cook offered fireworks during the first half of the season. It was only 203.2 passing yards per game above the final seven games of defenses. It got adjusted in his deep ball. 

In 2021, Wilson delivered a 54.7 QBR. It was the lowest in his career. It was because of a finger injury that needed in-season surgery. It critically affected his production. He lacked layups, the easy throws which he would always hit.

But the absolute worst of him remained better than many. There were 65 touchdowns to 19 interceptions in the last two seasons. Wilson’s 7.8 yards per attempt remained fifth overall last year.

His highest ranking was 1. His lowest ranking was out of 10. Last year he ranked 4th.

Deshaun Watson, Cleveland Browns

Watson’s update for 2022 is unknown. He faced around 25 civil lawsuits from massage therapists due to sexual assault. Twenty of such cases are now settled and another finally dropped. The remaining ones are scheduled for next spring. He is 26 years old.

The Browns quarterback faced potential NFL suspension. It was based on personal conduct policy. 

Voters made an effort to rank him. But they wondered if Watson in case he misses the complete 2022 season or a major portion of it.

His highest rank was 4. His lowest rank is out of 10. 

There was no ranking for him last year.

Dak Prescott, Dallas Cowboys

Voters identified Prescott’s consistency. It helped him beat the top-tier passers of the NFL. The Cowboys quarterback failed to get a single top-five vote.  

Dak remained a fixture in the Nos. 7 to 10 range. It supported him to overcome Baltimore’s Lamar Jackson. He is now in the last spot in the composite rankings. Dak is 28 years old.

Prescott recorded the fourth-most passing touchdowns (37) in 2021. For NFL in completion percentage (68.8%) & QBR from inside the pocket (65.5), he ranked fourth. His highest rank was 7th. The lowest one was out of 10. Last year’s ranking was 7.
