The much-awaited 16th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is going to start soon and cricket fans are full of excitement to welcome one of the biggest franchise tournaments in the world. All-rounders are an asset to any squad.
They are the ones that provide a squad with much-needed balance. We’ve seen teams with good all-rounders succeed over the years. The TATA IPL 2023 team’s 10 top all-rounder are listed below:
10. Jason Holder
Even though Rajasthan Royals reached the finals in the previous season, they struggled with their line-up and occasionally ran out of hitters. They used five bowlers, five batters, and an underwhelming all-rounder in Riyan Parag; they also needed to bat R Ashwin higher up the order.
To address this imbalance, they paid 5.75 crores in the IPL 2023 auction for Jason Holder, who was shockingly released by LSG despite having a solid season last year. Jason Holder is a top-tier seam bowling all-rounder who can swing the new ball, bowl well in crucial situations, and possess the long levers needed to bat through any boundary. Jason Holder may be the final piece the royals were missing from last year’s jigsaw.
9. Cameron Green
Cameron Green, who has yet to play in the IPL, was bought for INR 17.5 crore by the Mumbai Indians in the IPL 2023 auction, becoming the second-most expensive player in IPL history. He recently made a Test century in Ahmedabad against India, signaling his presence right before the IPL in 2023.
Cameron Green, as an expensive signing and in form, will undoubtedly draw all eyes when he eventually competes in the competition.
8. Ben Stokes
Although MS Dhoni will be the center of attention at CSK, Ben Stokes will also draw a lot of attention. Stokes, who has returned to the IPL after missing last season, was purchased by CSK for INR 16.5 crore, making him CSK’s most expensive auction choice ever.
How he interacts with MS Dhoni and CSK supporters will be an intriguing tale to follow this season, since Stokes is widely seen as the next-in-line for CSK’s captaincy once MS Dhoni retires.
7. Ravindra Jadeja
After a terrible season the previous year, Ravindra Jadeja would be anxious to redeem himself in the IPL 2023. Before the IPL 2022, he was granted the captaincy; but, after 6 losses in 8 games, he returned it to MS Dhoni. Jadeja also failed on an individual basis, batting just at a 19-run average and collecting only 5 wickets. However, Jadeja is a CSK legend; he is an important member of their team, especially on the Chepauk surface.
6. Hardik Pandya
Last year’s man of the moment was Hardik Pandya, who captained the Gujarat Titans to the IPL title while leading for the first time. Pandya shone for GT with both bat and ball, earning promotions to numbers 3 and 4, scoring 487 runs and taking 8 wickets.
He was named Player of the Match against RR for his 3-wicket haul and 34 runs scored. Hardik Panday’s legacy and Gujarat’s heritage will once again be challenged.
5. Sam Curran
Sam Curran, the tournament winner of the ICC T20 World Cup 2022, was acquired by the Punjab Kings for a large sum of money in the IPL 2023. Curran failed to produce for his SA20 League franchise. Nevertheless, the stakes will be higher in IPL 2023, and he is one of those players who thrive in the most difficult conditions.
4. Andre Russell
Andre Russell of the Kolkata Knight Riders is an opponent’s worst nightmare in the T20 format. Russell has the best career strike rate of any player in IPL history, at 177.88. In 98 IPL games, he has scored 2035 runs and taken 89 wickets.
3. Sikandar Raza
Punjab Kings have purchased Sikandar Raza for a reasonable price. He has taken the world of cricket by storm with his all-around brilliance at the highest level. His present form is exactly related to Zimbabwe cricket’s rising success over the previous two years.
2. Glenn Maxwell
Glenn Maxwell was the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) MVP for the last two IPL seasons. The Australian all-rounder has routinely scored runs for RCB while also contributing with the ball when the team needs his off-spin. Regrettably, Maxwell was injured at a party just a few months before the IPL 2023. Last month, he returned to domestic cricket, only to suffer another wrist injury. If Maxwell heals in time for the IPL 2023, he will be the RCB’s primary all-rounder.
1. Deepak Hooda
Last year’s super auction saw the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) stock up on all-rounders with some major names. They have kept the majority of their all-rounders, including India’s emerging talent, Deepak Hooda, for the IPL 2023.
The off-spin bowling all-rounder has performed admirably for India in the game’s shortest format. Hooda appeared in 15 IPL 2022 matches for LSG last year, scoring 451 runs and taking one wicket. He will be eager to improve his performance in the IPL in 2023.
