UEFA crowned Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema the Champions League Player of Season following a spectacular 2020-21 campaign in which he emerged as top scorer.
Benzema, 34, of France, won the league for the sixth time when Real Madrid defeated Liverpool 1-0 in the final after scoring 15 goals in 12 games, including hat-tricks against PSG and Chelsea in the knockout stages.
Vinicius Junior, Benzema’s colleague who scored the game-winning goal in Paris, was awarded the game’s Young Player of Season.
The pair were also chosen to the Player of the Tournament, together with Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric and goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, who all performed pivotal roles in the match at Stade de France.
Runners-up Defenders Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk, and Andy Robertson, and also midfielder Fabinho, representing Liverpool.
Kylian Mbappe of PSG, Antonio Rudiger of Chelsea, while Kevin De Bruyne of Manchester City completed the starting team.
