Primeira Liga leaders Benfica will host ninth-seeded Chaves at Estadio da Luz on Saturday (29 October).
Benfica is the only undefeated team in the Portuguese top flight after ten games and has a streak of two consecutive victories. Last weekend they defeated defending champions and arch-rival Porto 1-0, with Rafa Silva scoring a winning goal in the 72nd minute.
The Portuguese leaders continued their good form in the UEFA Champions League, beating Italian giant Juventus 4-3 at home midweek and qualifying for the round of 16. Equal on points but behind leaders Paris Saint-Germain in goal difference, Benfica will have to reverse a four-goal difference and also improve PSG’s result on Matchday 6 to win the group.
prediction
Qualified for the knockout stages of the Champions League, Porto will be able to fully concentrate on their action at home before the international break.
Benfica is six points clear at the top of the table, which means Porto cannot afford to give up more points if they want to defend their league title.
