BCCI will not allow Indian players to Mentor in leagues outside India : The BCCI- Indian Cricket Board will not allow any Indian player to mentor in leagues outside India. Whether it’s contracted, retired, or playing in the Indian Premier league. Recently, UAE T20 League and South Africa T20 League were announced.
India Premier league franchises have brought teams into both leagues. So, the BCCI has announced no Indian player will take part in these leagues despite the same teams from the IPL.
CSK will not be allowed to make MS Dhoni Mentor
BCCI’s announcement means CSK will not be able to use MS Dhoni’s mentorship in T20 leagues. With Dhoni still playing IPL, CSK cannot use the legendary player in a mentorship capacity.
An official from the BCCI said” It’s clear from the beginning no Indian player will play, including domestic players in leagues outside India. Until they retire from all forms of cricket including IPL. if any player wants to take part in leagues outside India, they need to cut down their ties from the BCCI.”
On talking about Dhoni, the official said” He can’t play for CSK in the IPL if he has to go for Mentorship outside India.”
In 2019, Dinesh Kartik had to throw an apology for violating a central contract. He was watching Trinbago Knight Riders in the 2019 Caribbean Premier League. According to the contracts, he first had to take permission from the BCCI before attending the match.
As many as 6 IPL Franchise owners have brought teams into the Cricket South Africa T20 league. In a press release, they revealed Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad, Lucknow, Delhi, and Rajasthan have got teams. Cape Town, Johannesburg, Pretoria, Gqueberha, Durban, and Paarl have teams. Mumbai Indians have already revealed the names of their team and 5 drafted players.
