BBL top 10 scores
The T20 revolution has swept the globe, but few countries have embraced it as fully as Australia. The BBL, a franchise league that made its debut in 2011, was inspired by the IPL, a prominent Indian sporting event. One of the cricketing events on the global calendar with the most viewers is the Big Bash League, which has the same 8 teams each season. The following is a list of the top ten run-scorers in the history of the BBL, which promises high-octane action with huge sixes and flying balls:
1. Moises Henriques
It may not come as a surprise that Moises Henriques is one of the top 10 BBL run scorers of all time given that he has been a crucial member of the Sydney Sixers squad with both bat and ball since 2011. In 87 BBL contests with the Sixers team, which has three times won the BBL title, Henriques averaged 27.94 points per game. In 2020 and 2021, Henriques led the team to back-to-back BBL victories, and those around him continue to benefit from his powerful hitting and T20 prowess.
2. Callum Ferguson
Since the start of his T20 career, Callum Ferguson has played in the BBL as a different guy. Since 2011, Ferguson has consistently delivered for all of his sides in the Big Bash, despite his struggles to make a name for himself on the international stage. His BBL career began with the Adelaide Strikers, followed by stops with the Melbourne Renegades and the Sydney Thunder. With 1935 runs at an exceptional average of 26.50, he remains one of the BBL cricket’s most dependable performers.
3. Michael Klinger
Even though the BBL was introduced in Australia at the end of Michael Klinger’s career, few athletes handled the change as well as he did. Despite having scored nearly 2000 BBL runs in just 71 games, his average of 30.42 is still better than the bulk of the most well-known cricketers to have ever played in the BBL. At the age of 36, his accomplishments led to him being selected for the Australian T20 team. He served as motivation for Perth Scorchers BBL 06 championship triumph. Klinger was hired as the Melbourne Renegades’ head coach in the BBL at the beginning of 2019 with the goal of developing the next generation of Australian T20 cricket players.
4. Jonathan Wells
Jonathan Wells made his BBL debut for his hometown Hobart Hurricanes in 2012, and he has since become an important player in the Big Bash cricket league. Wells has always sought to outplay the opposition in his 84 games played, and he was a member of the Hurricanes team that fell to the Perth Scorchers in the BBL 03 final. Wells leads the Adelaide Strikers to victory in the BBL 07, leading them to victory over their previous employers in the final. He continues to be a key member of the Strikers team today, averaging 34.21 with the bat.
5. D’Arcy Short
D’Arcy Short is one of the most sought-after guys among the group of T20 cricket players that travel the world as a result of franchise cricket. He has participated in 57 Big Bash games and racked up 2109 BBL runs, giving him a staggering lifetime average of 40.55. With two BBL hundreds and 18 BBL half-centuries, Short has established himself as one of the top T20 performers in Australia (and abroad). Short thus contributes significantly to the Australian national T20 team.
6. Marcus Stoinis
Marcus Stoinis’ position at the top of this ranking may not come as a surprise given that he holds the record for the best individual score in BBL cricket history. Stoinis’ incredible 147* against the Sydney Sixers in 2020 is his lone BBL century, but with 14 half-centuries and a stellar average of 36.84, he has had a significant impact on every team he has played for. He is a vital part of the Melbourne Stars machine and is also famed for his ball-handling skills.
7. Shaun Marsh
Whilst it hasn’t always worked out for Shaun Marsh at the international level, his performances in domestic cricket have always been noteworthy and he continues to be one of the biggest draws in BBL cricket. He has scored 2196 runs in just 61 games for a phenomenal BBL average of 41.43, which includes 20 half-centuries. He is still an important member of the Perth Scorchers squad and was on the team that lost to the Sydney Sixers in the BBL 10 final in 2021.
8. Glenn Maxwell
Many athletes find it difficult to swap teams in Melbourne, but Glenn Maxwell has managed it and come out on the other side. Despite being one of the greatest players to ever play for Australia, Maxwell constantly feels disappointed despite having a tremendous BBL record. He still serves as the Melbourne Stars’ talisman as they continue their quest for their maiden BBL victory. In 87 games, he scored 2205 runs, averaging 32.42 per game.
9. Aaron Finch
For more than ten years, Aaron Finch has been a talisman for Australia in ODI and T20 cricket. His BBL record is also outstanding. With his 2431 runs at an average of 34.23, he is one of just a few players who have hit two BBL hundreds. Finch, who assisted the Renegades in capturing the Big Bash title in BBL 08, will make an effort to inspire his squad once more in BBL 11 after the team placed last in BBL 10.
10. Chris Lynn
Chris Lynn, a T20 expert, is comfortably the only player in the all-time run-scorer rankings. Big-hitting has always been a significant component for Lynn, and he was and continues to be a vital part of the Brisbane Heat team that won the BBL in 2002. Lynn’s impressive average of 37.20 is dwarfed by his incredible strike rate of 151.05. With 2790 runs in 88 innings, Lynn’s impressive average is insignificant. Lynn is a great draw and still the star of a Brisbane Heat team that is loaded with skill.
