Before retiring, Barcelona forward Robert Lewandowski stated that it would be a “dream” for him to play alongside PSG superstar Lionel Messi.
Lewandowski moved to Barcelona from Bayern Munich in the summer for a fee of €45 million, which could be increased to €50 million with add-ons. Since his arrival at Camp Nou, the Polish superstar has had an immediate impact, contributing significantly to the Blaugrana’s dominance of the La Liga table.
He has scored 18 goals and provided four assists in 19 games across all competitions, making him the Blaugrana’s primary forward. The Poland international, on the other hand, has made it abundantly clear that he would love to compete with PSG superstar Lionel Messi for the spotlight. He explained to Mundo Deportivo:
“I have no say in it. Naturally, we can see that he now plays more like a playmaker; he may not score as many goals and pass to more teammates, but he still scores.”
“However, he is now the player that every striker aspires to play with in comparison to other times.”
After Blaugrana failed to extend Messi’s contract, he moved to PSG in the summer of 2021. Messi, a seven-time Ballon d’Or winner, had an average debut season at the Parc des Princes. He has, however, returned to form this season, netting 12 goals and 14 assists in 19 games.
This summer, Messi’s contract with PSG comes to an end, but he appears to be likely to extend it.
Joan Laporta makes a fresh claim on Lionel Messi’s potential Barcelona return
Joan Laporta updates on Lionel Messi’s possible return to Barcelona The president of Barcelona, Joan Laporta, has made a new claim about Messi’s possible return to Barcelona. He insisted that Messi remains a Barcelona fan and hailed him as the greatest player ever. He stated,
“Messi is the greatest player ever. He supports Barca; His heart is set on Barca. resulting in normal links.”
He expressed less optimism regarding Messi’s return to the field:
“Is Messi coming back? He plays for PSG. We will have to wait and see if Leo comes back one day.”
In 778 games across all competitions at Camp Nou, Messi recorded 672 goals and 303 assists. In recent weeks, much has been said about his future, but rather than returning to his former club, he appears to be close to extending his contract with PSG.
