After Real Madrid’s 4-0 defeat to Los Blancos in the El Clasico, Real Madrid forward Vinicius Junior has caused a lot of ire in the Barcelona dressing room. SPORT reports that players from Barcelona are furious at Vinicius, who clashed with a number of Blaugrana players in a heated encounter at Camp Nou on Wednesday (April 5).
The Brazilian scored a goal and helped Karim Benzema complete his hat trick, both of which contributed to Madrid’s victory. Les Merengues easily made it to the Copa del Rey final. However, when Vinicius got into a fight with Gavi in the first half, tempers flared up. The incident resulted in arrests for the pair.
At halftime, Vinicius also had a conversation with the Barcelona midfielder. He then had a fight with Ronald Araujo and Ferran Torres, even telling Torres that he is terrible. Due to the incident, Carlo Ancelotti, manager of Real Madrid, made a late substitution for him.
The behavior of Vinicius is causing tension between Barca and Real Madrid that has existed since Jose Mourinho’s El Clasico rivalry. After the game, Araujo called Vinicius out for arguing more than playing football. Federico Valverde, a Madrid midfielder, appeared to favor his fellow countryman over his Los Blancos teammate. Through Football-Espana, he stated:
“We need to give it some more thought. Not just the players from Barcelona. Us too. Football has this feature. You face them instead of enjoying the game. At Camp Nou, Real Madrid defeated Barca 4-0 in an unforgettable victory. They won the Copa del Rey semi-last 4-1 in total and will confront Osasuna in the last on May 6.
Luka Modric, a Real Madrid midfielder, shares his thoughts on Barcelona’s Copa del Rey victory :
Modric was overjoyed that Real Madrid beat their rivals in the El Clasico to secure their place in the Copa del Rey final. Through MadridXtra, the Croatian midfielder stated: “This team and everything make me very happy and make me very proud. I’m grateful. We must revel at the moment.”
The veteran midfielder went on to make reference to Los Blancos’ inability to win the Copa del Rey since 2014: “In 2014, we won the Copa del Rey for the first time. After nearly a decade, we can now do it once more.
Los Merengues’ Copa del Rey win in 2014 accompanied a success over Barcelona in the last. Modric was a part of the victory and obviously wants to win more competitions.
