Bangladesh team director says it’s disgrace to lose against Zimbabwe
Bangladesh team director says it’s disgrace to lose against Zimbabwe : Bangladesh recently visited Zimbabwe for a t20 tour, they lost the series against the hosts by a close margin. Zimbabwe played their best Cricket and won their first t20 series against Bangladesh. This grabbed eyeballs, while many are praising Zimbabwe for their excellent performance.
Many are criticizing Bangladesh for the poor display of cricket. In the list of critics, Bangladesh Cricket director is on, he called the loss disgrace. While Cricket is a game of gentleman, rather than appreciating the hosts for their making skills, the Bangladesh director considered it a disgrace to lose against them.
The team director interacted with the media
After the series’ defeat, in a press conference, the Bangladesh Cricket team interacted with the media. During the interaction, he said ” I’m disappointed with the losses. I didn’t expect to lose against Zimbabwe, we are a better team than them. I won’t give any excuses, we should have won the t20 series against them. The losing series was quite unusual.”
In interaction with cricbuzz Mahmud said ” When we required only 10 or 12 runs per over, we were scoring 6 or 7 in every over. No one was even trying to hit a six. Everyone was going for 1s and 2s. What was that? They were batting like trying to protect their place in the team, and make enough runs so that they wouldn’t lose their place. ”
Bangladesh Cricket team has not been playing their best in the last year in T20. Since their matches in UAE last year, the team won only 2 T20 matches out of 11. Mahmud was disappointed that none of the batters thought to be aggressive in their approach. Zimbabwe on the other hand was going for boundaries despite losing out on wickets.
He further added ” We were changing only 157, but you won’t get it if you bat with 90 or 110 strike rate. Look at their (Zimbabwe team players) strike rate, they changed the complexion of the match.”
Bangladesh next will be playing a 3-match ODI series against Zimbabwe from August 5 to 10.
