BAN vs ZIM: Nasum Ahmed gives 34 runs in over, joins Shivam Dube as second-most expensive bowler in T20Is
BAN vs ZIM: Nasum Ahmed gives 34 runs in over: In the third T20I between Zimbabwe and Bangladesh on Tuesday at the Harare Sports Club, Nasum Ahmed bowled to Ryan Burl and allowed 34 runs to slip between his fingers.
Nasum Ahmed of Bangladesh bowled the second-most costly over in T20I history. On Tuesday, August 2 at the Harare Sports Club, the left-armer let up 34 runs while bowling to Ryan Burl during the third T20I match against Zimbabwe.
Nasum, who performed admirably on the West Indies tour, let up five sixes and one boundary in the fifteenth over of the match when the hosts decided to bat first. Nasum only bowled two overs, during which he conceded 40 runs at a 20 economy rate.
After the big over where Burl went insane, Nasum was not reintroduced into the attack. With the aid of two fours and as many as six sixes, Burl went on to register a half-century off 24 balls and concluded with a 28-ball knock of 54.
Zimbabwe, led by left-handed hitter Sean Ervine, scored 156 for eight in their 20 overs as a result of his knock.
In the meanwhile, Nasum became the second-most costly bowler in T20Is, after India’s Shivam. Dube gave up 34 runs in a T20I match against New Zealand on February 2, 2022 at Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui. Ross Taylor and Tim Seifert had the pacemaker cleaned.
The record for the most costly over is now held by Sri Lanka’s Akila Dananjaya and England’s Stuart Broad. At Kingsmead in Durban during the 2007 T20 World Cup versus India, Broad let up 36 runs while bowling to Yuvraj Singh.
On the other side, Dananjaya conceded the same number of runs while bowling to former West Indies captain Kieron Pollard in March 2021. It’s interesting to note that Dananjaya scored three goals in that match.
