Babar Azam praises Naseem Shah and Shahnawaz Dahani despite their 5-wicket loss for their fighting attitude and aggression. Pakistan’s captain, Babar Azam, praised the spirit and aggression of his bowlers after his team lost to India on Sunday, August 28. Babar said in the presentation after the game that they were at least 15 runs behind and had to play catch-up in the second innings.
Babar’s Praise
“Definitely, the way we started the game. We were definitely short by 15 runs on the day and I am proud of the way we bowled today,” Babar said.
“The way Dahani stepped up today, both with the bat and ball, but we could not close the game today,” he further added.
The captain of Pakistan, Babar Azam, did not have a good day on Sunday because he did not get his team off to a good start. As a batsman-heavy team, Pakistan needed a strong start from their captain, Babar, who usually holds the innings together, but he didn’t do that.
When Babar tried to take on a short ball from Bhuvneshwar Kumar, he was out. But the batter failed when he tried to hook the ball, and Arshdeep Singh, who was standing at short fine leg, got the catch.
Babar’s Contribution
Babar was the main reason why Pakistan won the T20 World Cup. However, in the second innings of the match, he seemed off his game and couldn’t get his team together. Due to injuries to the fast bowlers and some slight miscalculations, the Pakistan captain had to bowl Mohammad Nawaz, a left-arm off-spinner, in the last over of the game. This was good for Hardik Pandya, who is known for his ability to hit spin. Nawaz batted well for the first three balls of the over, but Hardik hit the fourth ball over the ropes to win the game with 5 wickets left.
Babar’s Opinion on his bowlers
“The idea behind Nawaz bowling the final over was that we wanted to go deep and see how things panned out. The idea was to create pressure but Hardik finished well,” Babar said.
He talked about Naseem Shah in the press conference and said that he liked how aggressive the bowler was.Babar ended his press conference by saying, “Naseem Shah is a very young bowler but bowled so well, and showed so much aggression.”
