Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, and Shaheen Afridi sign PCB’s central contracts after a week of speculations
Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, and Shaheen Afridi sign PCB’s central contracts after a week of speculations: The players did take some time to read over the central contracts, but the speculations were not good for the health of any supporter of the Pakistani team.
Several players, including captain Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, and Shaheen Afridi, among others, decided to extend their contracts with the Pakistan Cricket Board after spending a week consulting with their respective legal counsel.
The board of directors decided to provide contracts to 33 of their players, dividing them evenly between their red-ball and white-ball cricketers. The board of directors has agreed to proceed in this manner for the very first time.
Players were given their contracts in Lahore, which was also the location of the pre-tour camp that was being organized in preparation for the trip to the Netherlands and the Asia Cup. According to the reports, players in the lower categories signed the contracts right away, while those in the higher professional divisions preferred to wait.
NOC
Hasan Ali, Fakhar Zaman, and Shadb Khan were also members of the group that came to the conclusion that they needed more time to go over the contract.
As a result, many have been speculating about whether or not the players want to negotiate a new deal with the board. However, after a week of negotiations, they finally agreed to sign the revised deal.
Reports indicate that the players took some time off in order to educate themselves on the NOC process in order to participate in leagues in other countries. They were interested in receiving additional information on their image rights and the participation fees associated with ICC tournaments.
In terms of compensation, each player will get match fees of Rs. 838,530 PKR (about US$3800) for a test match, Rs. 515,696 PKR (approximately US$2300) for an ODI match, and PKR 372,075 (approximately US$1700) for a Twenty20 International match.
However, the top contract holders in red-ball cricket will receive PKR 1,050,000 per month (about $4700), while top contract holders in white-ball cricket would receive PKR 950,000 (approximately $4300).
The first match of the Asia Cup will feature Pakistan taking on India’s national squad.
Babar Azam, the captain of the Pakistani cricket team, did not qualify for the Twenty20 World Cup last year and is now looking to win his first major prize as a skipper.
The side triumphed over India in the Twenty20 World Cup the previous year and will be hoping for a repeat performance when the two fierce competitors face each other in Dubai on the 28th of August.
Before that, the team will compete against the Netherlands in a one-day international series that consists of three matches. After that, they will make their way to the United Arab Emirates to start getting ready for the Asia Cup.
