In the fourth match against New Zealand in Karachi, Pakistan captain Babar Azam became the fastest batsman to score 5,000 one-day international runs, boosting his team to 334-6.
After winning the toss and sending the home team into bat at National Stadium, the 28-year-old beat South African Hashim Amla’s record with a 117-ball 107 for his 18th ODI hundred.
Azam improved on Amla’s feat of completing 5,000 runs in 101 innings from 104 matches when he reached 19 in his 97th innings of 99 one-day internationals.
Together with Shan Masood (44), Azam made 50 for the second wicket, Agha Salman (58) made 127 for the fourth wicket, and Iftikhar Ahmed (28) made 41 for the sixth wicket.
Azam, who has been the main player on the Global Cricket Committee throughout the previous two years, thumped 10 limits before he was gotten at profound mid-wicket off debutant Ben Lister in the 48th over.
