Axar Patel-“You can’t think about the T20 World Cup right now”
Patel, Team India’s left-arm spinner, has claimed that he is not currently considering attempting to seal his position in the T20 World Cup team.
According to him, such ideas are premature because the ICC event is still a few months away.
The three-match series against Afghanistan is the Men in Blue’s penultimate T20I assignment before the T20 World Cup, which will be place in the United States and the West Indies in June.
Before that, the players will participate in the Indian Premier League.
When asked about the fight for T20 World Cup places, Axar said during a post-match statement following India’s six-wicket victory in Mohali that he isn’t looking too far ahead.
After the series against Afghanistan, India will play five Tests against England, followed by the IPL. When questioned about controlling workload, the left-arm spinner stated that having the right mindset is crucial.
Axar dismissed Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Rahmat Shah in the opening T20I, putting Afghanistan on the back foot. Pacer Mukesh Kumar also contributed 2/33.
“As a bowler, you can’t do much on this pitch” – Axar
Reflecting on his outstanding performance in the Mohali T20I, Axar stated that he did not have much support from the pitch, and the cold weather did not help matters.
