Patel, a Team India all-rounder, reached 200 wickets in the T20 format during the second T20I. Against Afghanistan on Sunday, January 14, at the Holkar Stadium in Indore.
The 29-year-old took 2/17 in four overs with his left-arm spin. And was awarded Player of the Match in India’s six-wicket victory.
Axar first dismissed Afghanistan captain Ibrahim Zadran (8) and then terminated Gulbadin Naib’s stunning performance of 57 off 35 balls.
Naib’s scalp marked the spinner’s 200th T20 wicket. He has played 234 T20s, taking 200 wickets at an average of 27.95. and an economy rate of 6.97, including a high of 4/21.
Aside from 200 scalps, Axar has scored 2,545 runs in the shortest format at an average of 22.52 and a strike rate of 134.65, including five half-centuries and a best of 70.
He therefore became only the second Indian, after Ravindra Jadeja, to amass 200 wickets and 2,000 runs in Twenty20 cricket.

Axar was the outstanding bowler for India in the second T20I against Afghanistan. He took two wickets in four overs while conceding 17 runs.
Arshdeep Singh collected 3/32, while Ravi Bishnoi took 2/39 as India restricted Afghanistan to 172.
The Men in Blue knocked down the goal in 15.4 overs, with Yashasvi Jaiswal scoring 68 off 34 and Shivam Dube remaining undefeated on 63 off 32 balls.
Speaking after being selected Player of the Match, Axar downplayed his record of 200 T20 scalps, stating that he only wants to continue playing for his nation.
