Avalanche will be celebrating their Stanley Cup victory with a parade on Thursday, June 30. It will start at 10 a.m. and culminate with a rally in Civic Center Park. Players, coaches, and front-office officials from the Avalanche will give speeches at the event. Local Denver stations KMGH, KDVR, and KWGN, as well as Altitude Sports, will broadcast the procession.
Fans of the Colorado Avalanche should not make any plans for Thursday.
An official parade will be held on Thursday to honor the team’s Stanley Cup triumph over the Tampa Bay Lightning. Activities will begin at Union Station and end in Civic Center Park. The parade will end, and then the rally will begin.
Those who aren’t able to be there in person can still participate by watching on Altitude Sports or Denver7.
The atmosphere at this year’s Stanley Cup triumph parade will differ slightly from the previous two. The 2021 and 2020 Lightning championship teams celebrated by boating down the Hillsborough River.
The reigning champions, who had won the title twice before, put up a valiant effort in the loss. A win in Game 5 and an early lead in Game 6 thanks to a goal from Steven Stamkos was a good sign given their recent success.
A little over two minutes into the second, though, Nathan MacKinnon tied the game, and Artturi Lehkonen put the game away with a goal of his own at the 12:28 mark.
Fans in Denver probably entered the postseason with mixed emotions.
Avalanche: The Winners
The Avalanche finished tied for first in the NHL in points in 2020–21 but was eliminated from Stanley Cup contention by the Vegas Golden Knights in the second round the following season.
Colorado maintained its status as a top team in the league by winning the Western Conference. This team’s postseason narrative differs from previous editions due to its members’ record of only four losses.
When it comes to lofty expectations, this franchise isn’t naive. The Avalanche, though, will soon learn what it’s like to switch roles and become the hunted rather than the hunter.
Fortunately for Joe Sakic, the team’s general manager, nearly all of the major players will return for the upcoming season. Aside from restricted free agents Nazem Kadri and Andre Burakovsky, there are no other significant players on the market.
Cale Makar, winner of the Conn Smythe Trophy, Nathan MacKinnon, Mikko Rantanen, and Gabriel Landeskog are all signed for numerous years, so Thursday might not be the last time this group celebrates a Stanley Cup victory.
