Prior to WWE Backlash, Roman Reigns has a lot of momentum. The Tribal Chief has moved one step closer to completing 1000 days as champion thanks to his stunning victory over Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 39 Night Two. His strategies for after-WrestleMania are now crystal clear thanks to the world champion’s defeat of The American Nightmare. This year, the Tribal Chief has overcome each obstacle. Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn were managed in the primary two or three months of 2023, after which Rhodes confronted a huge bombshell. Brock Lesnar’s heel turn on Monday Night RAW appears to have stifled The American Nightmare’s efforts to win the world title.
Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter provided a disappointing update on Roman Reigns’ availability for the premium live event, which sparked speculation among fans regarding his opponent in WWE Backlash. His sources informed him on Monday that Reigns is not being planned for the May 6 event. After the Backlash, the Tribal Chief will be involved in significant events.

Fans became extremely irate when he returned and news of his regaining control surfaced. After WrestleMania 39, WWE Raw featured matches and segments that appeared to have been created by McMahon rather than Triple H, escalating the situation. Fans felt Vince’s contribution to the creative when Brock Lesnar turned on Cody Rhodes. The #FireVince hashtags began trending on Twitter at this point, and they haven’t stopped since.
Now, it’s abundantly clear that McMahon was primarily there to oversee the sale. However, he also informed the entire organization via email that Triple H would continue to serve as WWE’s Chief Content Officer even after the merger. The Big Man won’t be able to make any daily creative decisions, like whether or not to change the weekly scripts at the last minute.
However, he will still have some influence over the upper echelons.
