At the Sound Running Track Festival in Los Angeles late on Saturday night. Inspire Institute of Sport (IIS) athletes Parul Chaudhary and Avinash Sable broke national records in the women’s and men’s 5000-meter runs, respectively.
With a time of 13:19.30, Avinash beat his own national record by more than six seconds from his previous best of 13:25:65.
Parul Chaudhary, 28, made headlines, surpassing Preeja Sreedharan’s previous record of 13 years set at the 2010 Asian Games in Guangzhou by more than five seconds. Parul timed 15:10:35, while the past public record remained at 15:15.89.
Talking about the accomplishment, Parul Chaudhary said, “I’m feeling extraordinary that I have had the option to break a record that has been unblemished throughout the previous 13 years.
I’m grateful to my coaches, IIS, and JSW Sports for always supporting me and making sure I get everything I need for training.”
“I have been preparing in the US since April. I would agree that this preparation has truly helped me,” the bronze medalist at the 2019 Asian Titles expressed.
I’ve been getting the necessary exposure, and I’d like to keep training outside the country to get better results.
Consistently I set another objective and plan to accomplish it. My next target is to fit the bill for the Big showdowns, and I’m sure that I will make it happen. I want to perform better at my next competition, which is on May 19.”
By more than five seconds, Parul beat the previous record. The previous best was 15:15.89, which Parul beat with 15:10:35.
