2021
They failed to maintain pace with the midfield rivals. Moved down to P7 in the standings. They ended up scoring less than half the points of the 2020 tally.
The highlight of 2021, was Sebastian Vettel’s podium in Azerbaijan. Another highlight was the fifth-place, both at Monaco and Spa. The low point of the year was the disqualification. He got disqualified in P2 in Hungary. The reason was fuel infringement.
2020
The team was back firmly on their feet. The Racing Point scored the first win in the race and was en route to the fourth position in the standings. It happened because of Sergio Perez. He got replaced by Sebastian Vettel for 2021. After this, the squad’s transformation happened to Aston Martin.
2019
After the hangover of 2018’s, the team’s recovery remained slow. Despite the presence of some adventurous drives by the most-reliable Sergio Perez, the position was 7th. Perez scored 52 out of a total of 73 points.
2018
There was a tight intra-team rivalry. It was between stalwart Sergio Perez and Mercedes protege Esteban Ocon. It continued and got dropped at the rear of the midfield. It was due to financial uncertainty, and the build-up of a new owner. It was the new Racing Point name with a new championship entry from Belgian GP, August onwards. They recovered well and ended seventh overall. The rank was achieved even after losing 59 points earned before Spa.
