Harbhajan Singh has urged the Delhi Capitals to give Axar Patel captaincy instead of Australian David Warner, launching a vicious attack on Warner.
The Delhi Capitals won’t remember the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. The team led by David Warner is last in the points table with just two wins in eight games, and their chances of making the playoffs are in jeopardy.
Even though there are still a lot of reasons why Delhi didn’t do well in the 16th edition of the league, many people have pointed to Warner’s leadership and batting as the most important ones.
Sending off a searing assault at the Australian player, previous India cricketer Harbhajan Singh put the whole fault for DC’s unfortunate show this season on Warner.
Harbhajan stated after the Capitals’ 9-run defeat to Sunrisers Hyderabad on Saturday that if Warner had played 50 balls, all of them would have been wasted and DC would have lost by 50 runs.
In a video posted on his YouTube channel, Harbhajan virtually ruled out DC’s return to this position.
He did a poor job of guiding the side, and his structure became an issue later. It has been an extremely frustrating situation.
Delhi came so near because of Warner’s newly granted excuse (against SRH). Harbhajan said on the video that DC would have lost by 50 runs if he had played 50 balls. That would have been a waste of fifty balls.
This season, Harbhajan was critical of Warner’s strike rate. Despite the fact that Warner is one of the most prolific batters this season, scoring 306 runs in eight games at an average of 38.5. However, his strike rate is only 118.60 percent.
You didn’t mean anything; you scored 300+ runs however take a gander at your strike rate. This year, Warner has not really lived up to his stature. DC has no use for his 300 runs.
Harbhajan even suggested that the Delhi Capitals should give Axar Patel captaincy in order to set a good example for the future.
If Delhi wants to stay in contention for the playoffs, they need to win almost all of their remaining six games in the IPL’s league stage.
