The Indian men’s hockey team overcame their two-goal deficit to beat Malaysia 4-3 in the final of the Asian Champions Trophy 2023, at the Mayor Radhakrishnan Stadium in Chennai. With the win, India went past three-time champions Pakistan as the most successful team in the history of the Asian Champions Trophy with four titles.

Despite Jugraj Singh scoring the first goal of the final, India conceded three goals in quick succession as Malaysia took a 3–1 lead through goals from Ajrai, Razi Rahim, and Aminudin Muhammad. Although they scored fewer goals, India had 56% possession in the first half and entered nine circles compared to Malaysia’s seven.
From the start of the third quarter, India played aggressively in search of goals and it paid off as they scored two goals at the end of the quarter. It has been confirmed that the Tamil Nadu government will award prize money of INR 500,000 to each player of the Indian team and INR 250,000 to each coaching staff.
