In the annual meeting of the Asian cricket council (ACC), the 15th edition of the Asia Cup is announced. Sri Lanka will host the tournament. Between 27 August to 11 September, in 20 over format. This Asia Cup is going to happen after 3 years. This was Scheduled for 2020 in Sri Lanka but due to pandemic it was postponed, and in 2021 also it was postponed because of Covid. Total 6 teams will participate in the tournament, which are India, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and one team will one among UAE, Kuwait, Singapore, or Hong Kong. The team which will win the qualifier becomes the sixth team to participate in the tournament. Qualifiers Are held from 20 August. In the meeting, it is decided that Jay shah is continued as the President of the Asian cricket council (ACC) till the year 2024. And, Pakistan will host the Asia Cup 2023 in 50 over format.
History of Asia Cup
Asia Cup is first organized in 1984 in Sharjah, UAE. Till now 14 successful editions of the Asia Cup is completed. And 15 will be going to held this year. India is the most successful team in the Asia Cup. India won a total of 7 Asia Cup titles. Sri Lanka has 5 titles and Pakistan won 2 titles.
