After she helped her team win the T20I series in India with both the bat and the ball, Ashleigh Gardner, an Australian all-rounder, rose to the top of the all-rounder player rankings.
Following a global vote by icc-cricket.com fans, media representatives, ICC Hall of Famers, former international players, and others, both players receive their awards.
During England’s triumphant Test return to Pakistan, Brook was largely unstoppable, scoring centuries in each match to help the tourists win 3-0. Brook dominated the series with his aggressive strokeplay and firepower, seamlessly integrating into England’s pioneering longer-format style of play, despite only playing one Test match prior to his arrival in Pakistan.
He made a strong start to the series in Rawalpindi with 19 fours and 5 sixes for a blistering 153 in the first inning. On the other hand, Pakistan’s lightning-fast 87 in the second innings led to a shocking defeat on the final day. He finished with scores of 108 in Multan and 111 in Karachi, two more impressive centuries. These centuries set the stage for his breakout month.
To cap off a significant month, Gardner, an accomplished all-rounder from Australia, wins her first Player of the Month award.
The arduous victory over India in the T20I series in December marked the end of Gardner’s impressive 2022 season. She scored 115 runs at a striking rate of 166.66 while taking seven wickets at an average of 18.28.
