Arteta ‘URGED’ to change Arsenal formation
Arteta ‘URGED’ to change Arsenal formation: Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is getting a lot of head-scratching decisions ahead of Saturday’s game against Leicester City, with debates about his decision to avoid deploying Amin Younes, who will miss the match due to injury
Arsenal is set to host their second Premier League game of the season, and it will be on Saturday.
Arsenal have had a great start to the new season, winning 2-0 against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park last Friday. The Gunners have also gotten a boost from five new signings in the summer transfer window.
Mikel Arteta has decisions to make on player selection with both Oleksandr Zinchenko and Gabriel Jesus battling for the left-back position. William Saliba caused a stir in training camp with his return to the team after signing for Manchester United in 2019.
Merson is saying that Mikel Arteta should change his formation to a three-man defense in order to accommodate William Saliba, Ben White and Gabriel Magalhaes.
According to Paul Merson, Arsenal’s players performed brilliantly in the opening game of the 2019/20 Premier League season, but they need to change tactfully if they want to push forward in the long run. In his column for the Daily Star, Merson argued: “Mikel Arteta should switch to three at the back now that Saliba is in the team – even if it means giving Saka the graveyard shift.”
Oleksandr Zinchenko is a natural wing back for me, and Saka can do the same job on the other side. Saliba looks like perfect for me as I play either Gabriel or Ben White at sweeper.
William Saliba has brought instant success to Arsenal, with Gabriel Magalhaes one of his many fans. He partnered the youngster in central defense in the win at Selhurst Park last week and says that they are having a nice experience because they both speak French on the pitch.
Gabriel said that he’s is a young player who came here at a very young age and then got some experience. He has already been playing for the French national team and despite his age, he’s still very talented. Gabriel looks to use his skills to help the team.
Having a friend on the team who speaks French is helpful for Arsene Wenger. Ramsey has had trouble getting playing time but Wenger has confidence in him and believes he can bounce back to his old form.
Ramsey has signed on with OGC Nice for three years, scoring his first goal for the club last weekend. Arsene Wenger, who previously managed Ramsey at Arsenal, visited Nice Thursday to provide commentary.
