Arjun Babuta, a young Indian shooter, upset Lucas Kozeniesky, a silver medalist from the Tokyo Olympics, to win the men’s 10m air rifle competition on Monday and start his nation’s campaign in the current ISSF World Cup. Arjun Babuta wins gold in 10m air rifle final
Arjun has already achieved his first gold medal for the senior team. First at 2016 Junior World Cup in Gabala, Azerbaijan, he has won the gold medal.
The 23-year-old Punjabi athlete, whose been competing for India until 2016. previously won the ranking round with a brilliant 261.1 points to secure a spot in the gold medal match.
Sergey Richter of Israel, the leader in qualification, finished third with a total of 259.9 while Kozeniesky scored 260.4 to follow him. The American fought till the very last. However Arjun came through with those enormous triple 10s. And a precise finish for a commanding score. Helping India start their account with the greatest gold they could possibly win.
Parth Makhija, the other competing Indian, came fourth with a total of 258.1 And also qualifying for the world tournament in fifth after a strong performance on Sunday.
