The Indian Archery recurve women’s team, which is participating in Archery World Cup Stage-3, led by Deepika Kumari, has won a silver medal. The team lost the gold medal match against Taiwan by scoring 5-1. After this win of a silver medal, the Indian campaign ended with overall 3 medals. India has won 1- gold and 2- silver medal in the tournament. The trio of stars Deepika Kumari, Ankita Bhagat, and Simranjit Kaur lost the final match to Taiwan by a score of 1-5 (53-56 56-56 53-56) in the clash held in Paris on June 26, 2022.
Archery World Cup is organized every time in four different metropolises of the world in four stages. Stage- 3 matches are presently being held in Paris. Apart from this, there are also World Cup Tests at the end of the time. In this, the hunters who perform well in the first four stages get a chance.
Taiwan has a good start in the match
The Taiwan team also included Lei Chien Ying, the winner of the bronze medal at the Rio Olympics. The 3- seeded archer had shown the A-game.
They made pressure from the very beginning. They won the first set by 3 points. Then the Indian team leveled the second set with56-56. But In the very next set, the Taiwanese archers returned back and made the match one-sided.
Please mone that each set carries 2 points in the final. Totally Chinese Taipei won two sets of the match. 1- set remained tied.
Indian Archery compound mixed team has also created a history by winning the gold medal in the ongoing Archery World Cup Stage-3 in Paris. Indian star pair of Jyoti Surekha and Abhishek Verma defeated French pair of Robin Jatma and Lisel Jatma by a score of 152-149 in the gold medal match. On the other hand, Jyoti Surekha also won the silver medal in compound singles.
In the compound mixed semi-finals, the Indian team defeated Estonia by a score of 156-151. Earlier in the quarterfinals of the championship, Abhishek and Jyoti clashed with a tough challenge from El Salvador’s Roberto Hernandez and Sofia Page, the match was tied at 3-3. After the shootout, India won the match.
