Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin each scored five wickets to lead India to a 132-run victory over Australia in the first innings at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur on Saturday.
India won the first innings by 132 runs at Nagpur’s Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium. After a prolonged knee injury, Jadeja returned to the team and scored a half-century while taking five wickets in the first innings.
In contrast, Ashwin picked up his 31st five-wicket haul as India bowled out Australia for just 91 runs. India took a 1-0 lead in the four-match series with the victory.
Ashwin praised Jadeja for his all-around success after the match and said that he is “thankful” to have a bowling partner like the 34-year-old.
“To say that they were very helpful is an understatement. He has been in incredible form. The way he bats, the way he bowls, and how well he moves in the field are all obvious.
He has performed admirably in cricket. I am so grateful to have a partner like him bowling with me; Axar is also not your typical bowler.
After the match, Ashwin stated, “We’ve got a perfect set of spinners and all of us who can bat.”
