Following his absence from Manchester United’s 2-2 draw with Leeds United on Wednesday (February 8), winger Antony was spotted sporting a new look. Due to a problem with his leg, the Brazilian winger was ruled out.
The quick wide receiver was at Old Trafford to support Manchester United as they came back to draw 2-2 with Leeds. The club posted pictures of him on social media showing him with newly dyed blonde hair.
Before the game, manager Erik ten Hag informed the Express of his absence, saying:
“I can’t say for sure, but it is in his leg. That will make sense to you.
Despite the criticism he has received during his debut season at Manchester United, Antony’s absence was felt.
Marcus Rashford, who normally plays on the left wing, was moved to the right. However, in the first half, he had no effect on the game. Alejandro Garnacho, on the other hand, started on the left but struggled in front of goal.
With his team trailing by 2-0, Ten Hag made substitutions in the second half, substituting Jadon Sancho and Facundo Pellestri for Wout Weghorst and Garnacho. In order to restore parity, United scored two lightning-fast goals.
Antony has played in 23 games in different competitions, assisting on five goals. How long he will be out of the game is yet to be determined. When he returns to action, fans will likely see a new Brazilian right winger.
Ten Hag praises Manchester United’s Jadon Sancho following his impressive return to the first team.
Sancho has been working on his own training for the past three months while away from the Manchester United first team. Since signing for £74 million in 2021 from Borussia Dortmund, he has struggled at Old Trafford.
He was, however, at his best in the draw with Leeds, which had a direct impact on his re-entry into Premier League football. The English winger’s future is in his own hands, according to Ten Hag. After the draw, he said:
I am extremely pleased that he is moving in the right direction. I believe he will be strengthened and motivated even more if he can maintain his momentum. He is a brilliant football player who has the potential to be outstanding if he invests in the right levels.”
Added he:
“He likes that we now have a team that can play in the opponents’ half; He plays well in tight spaces. Because it is in his own hands, he can do whatever he needs to.
This season, Sancho has played 16 games, scoring four goals and assisting on another. The Englishman’s return from injury to Manchester United has come at the right time. In the rematch on Sunday (February 12), they play Leeds.
