This season, Anthony Edwards has been on a tear. In his fourth season in the NBA, the Minnesota Timberwolves guard has put up steady numbers that have helped catapult the team to the top of the Western Conference rankings.
After signing a five-year, $260 million contract last summer, Edwards has proven that he is the franchise’s cornerstone and is worth every penny by playing in nearly every game.
During his spectacular rise, Statmuse performed some research and compared his figures to those of the late great Kobe Bryant, who was in his fourth NBA season at the time.
And it’s safe to say that Edwards has overtaken the guard in both points and assists, eliciting awe from fans:
One of them was honest, and possibly a little harsh on Bryant:
While “Mamba” supporters were outraged by the second portion of the remark, the spotlight was mostly on the first section, in which the Minnesota star was a better player in his fourth season:
Anthony Edwards is averaging 26.6 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 5.1 assists this season. In his last five games, he has averaged 34.0 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 4.0 assists.
While his statistics demonstrate how impressive he has been, there is nothing to take away from the LA Lakers superstar who was one of the league’s most dangerous scorers.
Anthony Edwards is displeased with the Timberwolves’ back-to-back losses
The Minnesota Timberwolves have been one of the toughest teams to beat this season, but they have gone on a two-game losing streak, falling to the New York Knicks and the New Orleans Pelicans.
And Edwards was irritated by the double whammy. In the Timberwolves’ 117-106 home defeat against the Pelicans, he scored 35 points, four rebounds, and five assists.
Edwards was asked about Minnesota’s first losing streak of the season during his postgame interview.
He was direct in criticizing their recent performances and wants them to recover and work things out:
Edwards and the Timberwolves will try to end their losing streak against the Houston Rockets on Friday.
They return home and face three similarly outstanding clubs in three home games.
The Dallas Mavericks will play first, followed by two interconference games versus the Orlando Magic and the Boston Celtics.
Much is riding on Anthony Edwards, Karl-Anthony Towns, and Rudy Gobert.
The issue is whether Minnesota can recover against three formidable opponents in the coming days.
