Anil Kumble supports Kuldeep Yadav playing in the second Test match against England. If one pacer is enough for the team in the second Test at Vizag, then Anil Kumble, the legendary bowler and former India coach, believes the team should start Kuldeep Yadav in the starting XI.
Despite having a commanding lead of 190 runs in the first innings, India lost the first Test shockingly by 28 runs. But Ollie Pope’s brilliant 196 in the second innings was too much for the home spinners, who gave up 331 runs between the three of them.
Mohammed Siraj did not contribute much in 11 overs without a wicket, however India’s star bowler Jasprit Bumrah was the match’s standout performer.
Speaking to Jio Cinemas, Kumble expressed the opinion that, should they feel that one pacer is adequate, then Kuldeep’s modifications should be taken into account by the team management.

“I am not certain if you require a fourth spinner,” Kumble replied. “But having Kuldeep would undoubtedly assist if India decides they just need one fast bowler. England will visit and do the same things they did in Hyderabad, even though he will change. We anticipate a quicker tempo than this, and this wicket may be a turning point.”
In his final Test match against Bangladesh in 2022, Kuldeep took a match-high eight wickets. Also included five in the first innings.
“India needs to saddle up with its approach to play versus spin” – Anil Kumble, cricketer
In the second Test matchup with England, Anil Kumble urged the Indian batting team to be more confident. And positive in their footwork when facing spin.
As the hosts chased 231 to win, left-arm spinner Tom Hartley, making his debut, had the hosts fooled. He picked up 7/62 in a period that decided the match. India lost by 28 runs after being bowled out for a pitiful 202.
“If you put in the work, this was a good wicket even if it was sluggish. In my opinion, a few batters’ approaches weren’t encouraging. And their footwork wasn’t what was expected, so India has to toughen up when it comes to batting against spin,” Kumble remarked.
