Andreas Christensen, a former Chelsea defender who left the club as a free agent after ten years, has signed for Barcelona, the Spanish club confirmed on Monday. Christensen began his football career with Danish club Brondby and was signed by Chelsea for their U19 squad after 8 years.
Christensen was loaned to Borussia Mönchengladbach in 2015, where he spent two years before returning to the London club.
Christensen appeared in the Champions League, Europa League, and Club World Cup finals, assisting Chelsea to win in each.
Barcelona reportedly signed Ivory Coast midfielder Franck Kessie on a free transfer following he left AC Milan on Monday.
Barcelona announced that Kessie has signed a new deal till June 2026, including a buy-out option of 500 million euros ($522.80 million).

Christensen started his professional at Skjold Birkerd before moving on to Brndby. He signed Chelsea as a 15-year-old in February 2012 and made his major league debut in October 2014. From 2015 to 2017, he played on loan with Bundesliga club Borussia Mönchengladbach, where he appeared in 82 games and scored seven goals.
Christensen earned his senior international debut for Denmark in June 2015, and he went on to play in the 2018 FIFA World Cup and the UEFA Euro 2020.
