An ex-Indian teammate responds to Rohit’s actions in the first Twenty20 international, says THIS about DK. Australia beat India by four wickets in the first T20I of the series, which took place on Tuesday in Mohali. India batted first and made a good score of 208/6 in 20 overs. However, the Indian bowlers, especially the fast bowlers, were not very good. Nevertheless, the defending world champions reached the goal with four balls to spare. Cameron Green opened the innings for the first time in his T20I career. He scored 61 runs, and Matthew Wade played a great role in the end, staying unbeaten on 45 runs to help Australia win.
Australia’s run chase was hurt by India in the middle overs when Axar Patel and Umesh Yadav took four wickets between overs 10 and 14. They got rid of Green, Steve Smith, Glenn Maxwell, and Jos Inglis, all of whom looked dangerous. Smith and Maxwell were both caught behind by Umesh in the same over.
But even though Karthik caught Maxwell’s ball, it seemed like he didn’t ask for a review. Rohit playfully grabbed the wicketkeeper’s neck to show how annoyed he was that Karthik couldn’t make up his mind about the DRS call. The video went viral on social media, and former India star Robin Uthappa, who played with both Rohit and Karthik, talked about it on Star Sports after the game.
Karthik becomes relaxed, says Uthappa
Uthappa said that Karthik tends to get “relaxed” sometimes, and Rohit was smart to warn him about this. “Sometimes, Dinesh becomes a bit too relaxed. If he knows the batsman is out, he becomes relaxed. But what Rohit Sharma did was good, he warned him, he told him to at least appeal,” Uthappa said.
Rishabh Pant, a young wicketkeeper who can also bat, was passed over for Karthik in Team India’s playing XI, which has gotten a lot of attention. Also, Karthik’s batting position in the first T20I didn’t sit well with many fans and former cricketers. The wicketkeeper-batsman came to bat at no.7, below Axar Patel and was out on 5 off 6 deliveries.
