An ex-Indian cricketer gives his honest opinion on the replacement for the all-rounder Jaddu. All-rounder Axar Patel replaced Ravindra Jadeja in the Australia series as a like-for-like replacement. On Sunday at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, the series-deciding match, Patel worked his magic. In the third and last T20I of the bilateral series between India and Australia at Hyderabad, the star all-rounder caused the most damage.
Jadeja, a veteran all-rounder, was replaced in the T20I squad by Axar after an injury forced the Indian star to miss the Asia Cup. Jaddu, a veteran player who has played for the Rohit Sharma-led team in all formats, will also miss the next ICC World T20. However, after the Australia series was over, former Indian cricketer Ajay Jadeja praised Ravindra Jadeja’s replacement, Axar. He said Axar had taken the chance with both hands.
Here’s what Jadeja said
“Once Axar Patel had that first game, the kind of quality that he showed, it looked like he had it. He has grabbed the opportunity with both hands. We all miss Ravindra Jadeja, but nobody is missing him from the bowling point of view. Axar Patel has added to the bowling attack, he bats well, it’s only fielding where he cannot match him,” Jadeja told Cricbuzz.
In the last game of the series between India and Australia, Aaron Finch, Matthew Wade, and Josh Inglis were all taken out by Axar. The all-round bowler took three wickets and gave up 33 runs. For his bowling, Axar was also named the Player of the Series.
Jadeja also talked about India’s win over Australia in the series. India also broke Pakistan’s world record after a thrilling last-over win over Australia on Sunday under the leadership of Rohit Sharma.“When you look now, the stability is there, they are sure of the people that they want and sure of how they want to play. That, for me, is a very important aspect going into the World Cup. All of the question marks have been answered. The stability of the team, in terms of mindset, is the biggest positive to come out of this series,” Jadeja added.
