Former Indian head selector Kris Srikkanth believes Rohit Sharma will captain the team in the T20 World Cup in June. Following his comeback for the three-match series against Afghanistan.
Rohit captained the team that was thrashed by England in the 2022 T20 World Cup semi-finals in Australia.
Rohit has not played any T20Is for India since then, but he has been called up for the next series against Afghanistan.
Despite his 14-month hiatus from the format, the talismanic cricketer was appointed captain of the side for the series.

Hardik Pandya was the normal captain of the T20I team in Rohit’s absence, with Suryakumar Yadav taking over in the previous two series owing to Hardik’s injuries.
The two will miss Afghanistan’s T20Is as they heal from their injury.
Srikkanth expressed confidence in Rohit’s selection as skipper for the T20 World Cup on his YouTube channel following the unveiling of the Afghanistan series team.

Kris Srikkanth believes the anguish of losing in the final of the ODI World Cup would motivate Rohit Sharma to win the 2024 T20 World Cup.
Team India won ten consecutive games till the semi-finals before losing to Australia by seven wickets in the top showdown.
Despite winning the 2007 T20 World Cup as a player and five IPL wins as captain. The 36-year-old is yet to win an ICC trophy as India’s captain.
Srikkanth also expects Rohit will play aggressive cricket in this year’s IP. Similar to his approach in the 50-over World Cup.
Along with Rohit, ace batsman Virat Kohli returned to the T20I team for the Afghanistan series following the 2022 World Cup semi-final setback.
The three-game series begins in Mohali on Thursday, January 11.
