Alexandre Lacazette returns to Lyon
The forward’s deal at the Emirates Stadium was set to close by the end of the month, therefore he has returned to the club where he started his career until going to Arsenal in 2017.
Lacazette has announced a deal contract with Lyon, and his signing is a coup for the club, who finished ninth in Ligue 1 this season and will not participate in Europe next season.
The 31-year-old made his mark at Lyon, when he recorded 129 goals after going through into the club’s youth. Lacazette has scored 71 goals in 206 outings for Arsenal before arriving to north London 5 years earlier, however the 31-year-old achieved just six goals last season, and both he and Arsenal chose to part ways.
During an interview with sources, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta have opened up on it. He said, “I would like to cherish all the happy times I could get at the club, because for me it was just a pleasure to play for a club that, since I was little, I dreamed of,” the striker told Arsenal’s official website before his departure. I’m overjoyed to have spent five years at Arsenal.
He added, “There seems to be a board in the stadium with all the winners’ names on it, and I told my dad in my first season that one day I’d be on it.” So I’m quite pleased of myself for making it.”
“Laca has been a great player for us,” He’s been a true leader both on and off the field, and he’s been a huge effect on our younger players. His dedication to us has been outstanding, and we wish him and his family happiness and success.” Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta remarked.
