Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain Biography. Alexander Mark David Oxlade-Chamberlain is an English professional football player born on 15 August 1993. He plays as a midfielder for the Premier League team Liverpool. Oxlade-Chamberlain joined Arsenal in August 2011 after making a name for himself with Southampton in 2010–11. He was 17 at the time. Oxlade-Chamberlain scored twice in his first three games for the club, making him the youngest English player to score in the history of the UEFA Champions League. He also won a regular spot on the England under-21 team.
Achievements
During his six years at the Arsenal Stadium, he played 198 games and scored 20 goals. He also won the FA Cup three times during that time. He joined Liverpool in August of 2017. In 2019, they won the UEFA Champions League, and in 2020, they won the Premier League.
Oxlade-first Chamberlain’s game with the England national team was on 26 May 2012, when England beat Norway 1-0 in a friendly. After this, he was called up to the England team out of the blue for UEFA Euro 2012. He was the second-youngest player to ever play for England in the European Championships, after Wayne Rooney, but Jude Bellingham later passed him. He also made the team for the 2014 FIFA World Cup. Alex has played 35 times for the national team, the most recent being in 2019. In those 35 games, he has scored seven goals.
As an international player
Oxlade-Chamberlain was put on the England Under-18 team for the 16 November 2010 game against Poland at Adams Park. England won the game 3-0, and Oxlade-Chamberlain was on the field for the first 45 minutes before he broke ties. Oxlade-Chamberlain started for the Under-21s for the first time on 1 September 2011, against Azerbaijan. He had two assists during the game.
On 29 February 2012, he scored a late penalty kick that helped England beat Belgium 4–0 and guarantee at least a spot in the play-offs for the 2013 UEFA European Under-21 Championship. Then, on 11 June, he started England’s first game of the Euro 2012 tournament against France. This was his first big international tournament.
Oxlade-Chamberlain scored his first goal for his country in a 5–0 win over San Marino on 12 October 2012. He scored again when England played San Marino again on 22 March 2013 and won 8-0. On 2 June 2013, he scored against Brazil in the match that marked the reopening of the renovated Maracana Stadium. The game ended 2–2. He came on as a substitute in the second half and scored with a half-volley to make it 1–1. On 16 May 2018, he was not in Gareth Southgate’s 23-person England team for the 2018 FIFA World Cup. This was because he was wounded.
