After defeating the hosts on Sunday’s fourth day of the second Test, Australia has won the Frank Worrell Trophy 12 times in a row. However, Steve Smith, the fill-in skipper, committed a hilarious error by fracturing the Frank Worrell Trophy and placing the broken part on David Warner’s foot.
Since 1960-61, a series between Australia and the West Indies have won the trophy. However, since the series in 1994/95 against the West Indies, Australia has held the award, winning seven consecutive series to nil. In the 19 Test matches it has played against the West Indies, Australia has won 15 of those matches and drawn four. The last time it lost to the West Indies was in 2003.
When Smith knelt down to take the team picture, the silver trophy with a cricket ball on top and a base finished in wood was broken. The Fox Cricket vision showed the ball moving once he reached the ground as he lowered himself and placed his weight on it. He was soon trying to figure out how to get the ball back on the base while holding it. He had to hold it to the trophy in hilarity while the picture was taken.
However, he accidentally dropped it on Warner’s foot as he stood up. Daniel Cherny of CODE Sports wrote: Steve Smith said, I hope it can be put back together by someone. Sir Frank Worrell is compared to cricket’s Nelson Mandela because he served as the West Indies’ second black captain. After receiving a leukemia diagnosis at 42, he passed away in 1967.
After a disastrous series in which the West Indies were accused of not caring. Not trying, and playing club cricket, this was a brief moment of humor for Australia. The Windies were attempting to pick themselves up. Australia won by 419 runs on Sunday as the final six wickets fell for 25 runs.
West Indian cricket legend Carl Hooper was confused notwithstanding. Mourning the country’s transgression from a worldwide force to be reckoned with to a global fool. It isn’t very comfortable. I’m broken. I have never played for a West Indies team that was bowled out for less than 100 runs.
